  1. Summarize your overall status for the week

    Game Logic

    Decided obstacles locations and discussed some gameplay details on how to destroy obstacles.

    Networking & Integration

    Modified and discussed some details on events handling, and started to work on integrating collision detection on the server side.

    Graphics

    Animation loading successfully, and starts to implement smoother changes between walking and standing and other actions. Graphic UI is implemented as the artist's design. Skybox and obstacles rendering is nearly finished.

    Collision

    Collision with walls is done on the client side, waiting to be integrated into the server end.

    Arts & Music

    Artist finished the basic modeling, start to work on texturing and rigging. Artist also finished 2D UI design and layout. AND we also have our audio demos for the games!

    Audio is added to the game using Soloud and we’ve created several loops of music that can be played during the gameplay.

    Experiment with our models and animations in the engine.

    Enable animations to be controlled by server data.

    Enable animation to be played only when the character is moving.

    Enable characters to perform different animations.

  2. What goals were you able to accomplish?

    I accomplished all the goals above. The only thing that isn’t completely finished is asset export. The model and animation we load into our engine can play the animation but the texture is missing.

  3. If the week went differently than you had planned, what were the reasons?

    Not quite familiar with blender texture binding and material baking. We didn’t quite figure out how to export assets from Blender into asset images so the model is missing textures in our engine.

  4. What are your specific goals for the next week?

    Learn blender and bake our material asset.

  5. What did you learn this week, if anything (and did you expect to learn it?)

    I learned more about how to animate a model in the engine and also how to render a skybox.
